Peace has always been the main concern of humanity for so long. Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and many other religious groups have preached to teach and develop the idea of peace in humanity. Spiritual leaders and peace advocates like the peace ambassador, Prem Rawat, have also imparted their surroundings with peace education and ways to attain inner peace.

However, the results are not yet satisfactory. Each year, religious groups go on pilgrimage to promote peace and find inner serenity. In this article, find out more about the 60thAnnual Christmas Peace Pilgrimage.

General background

The pilgrimage for peace started in 1960 in order to bear witness for the possibility to establish peace in the world. The 60thAnnual Christmas Peace Pilgrimage took place on December 14, 2019. Each year, Christians from all over the world join the Pilgrimage, regardless of their age group, and set out on a journey to Bethlehem, just like what Mary and Joseph did thousands of years ago. In fact, before Jesus's birth, King Herod ordered the killing of all babies under the age of 2.

A few days after Jesus's birth, Joseph had a vision. In his dream, God sent an angel to reveal the plan of the King Herod to Joseph. He then advised him to set out to Egypt with Mary and baby Jesus in order to save the baby. Jesus is known as the King of peace. Thus, the peace pilgrimage is designed by Christians to commemorate that escapade from Joseph and Mary's homeland to Egypt in order to seek a refuge.

The 60th peace pilgrimage

The 60thpilgrimage consists of a 10-mile trek from Nazareth to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Everyone can participate in the long march for peace. The main objective of the journey for peacetime is to reflect upon the peaceful life of Jesus Christ and his abundant love.

  • In his lifetime, Jesus was known for his nonviolence.
  • He is kindhearted and can easily forgive the iniquities of those who have sinned against him. Participants will focus on the love of Jesus and his gratefulness.
  • He performed several miracles. He restored vision to 10 blind men, he could heal the long-suffering people.
  • In addition, he has the power to cast out demons from those who have been subjected to its possession for many years. The only thing Jesus asks from his disciples is to believe in his words.

Promoting peace for family and your surroundings

The 60th Christmas Peace Pilgrimage is a unique opportunity to reunite family members and make new friends. Nowadays, it is difficult for families and relatives to have a quality time together. A quality time is when you can enjoy the best moment together, feeling at peace.

This is the time to forgive each other, as life is never hassle-free. By spending some time together at the pilgrimage, not only can you learn to understand one another; you can also develop your faith in Jesus and learn to live under his principles. Thus, it is an occasion to nurture the culture of peace, love and forgiveness in each participant.

To contribute to the establishment of the global harmony, it is essential to believe in the possibility of peace, as Prem Rawat instructs in his unique message of peace.
